David SaenzDavid Saenz aka ELeNA was born in Los Angeles and moved to his parents’ native Ecuador at an early age where he started playing drums and guitar. In his teenage years, he started his musical journey in the Ecuadorian skate-punk rock scene and at the age of 18, David moved to San Francisco, pursuing a career in the music business as a singer-songwriter, producer and audio engineer.
For years David played in punk and ska bands in San Francisco while also training professionally to achieve his true passion as a sound engineer and producer. He started from the bottom and worked his way up at the legendary Hyde Street Studios. As an audio engineer and producer, David has had the opportunity to work with both well-known artists like Chuchito Valdez, Alejandro Sanz, and OneRepublic and also with many local artists in many genres. As a live sound engineer, he has had the privilege to work with many legendary reggae groups such as Pato Banton, Israel Vibration, Black Uhuru, Don Carlos, and Capleton, and these experiences influenced and inspired David to work more with reggae music. As his musical influences have evolved, he's learned to understand, study and respect each and every style of music he encounters, while always keeping his personal style, essence, and ideology. David loves and supports independent artists. As an independent artist himself, David started a record label called La Fauna Music LLC in which he helps elevate many artists and also where, in 2022, he debuted his musical project ELeNA. This project started in January 2020 and lyrically discusses the worlds’ sociopolitical and ecological problems and also personal relationships and love. ELeNA is rooted in reggae music, but experiments and fuses the genre with punk, ska, cumbia, latin jazz and hip hop. |
